Workshops

Workshops are held in a log cabin in the beautiful Welsh countryside near the historic town of Monmouth.  Refreshments are provided throughout the day.  Bring your own lunch as there are no shops in walking distance. Parking is available but there are steps to the car park and cabin due to the nature of the location.

Introduction to Baltimore

Baltimores are a particular style of quilts, popular between the 1840s to 1860s. A traditional form of quilting involving plenty of hand Needle Turned appliqué. Make a cushion or begin your own quilt. Introduction to Baltimore teaches the basics of Needle Turned appliqué for leaves, flowers and stems.

Baltimore Next Steps

Having looked at leaves, flowers and stems we can now move to the next steps. Baltimores use various embroidery stitches to decorate the blocks along with Suffolk Puffs (Yo Yo’s) and circles. You will learn how to use these to decorate your Baltimore plus how to complete the decorative edging for your cushion.

Bargello Lap Quilt

Using a strip or Jelly Roll, we learn the tube technique to make a Bargello quilt. Choose from a Wave or Flame design for a quick lap quilt.

Quilt Labels

It’s a beautiful way mark the achievement of finishing a quilt, labels are used to record the maker and date on a quilt. We look at different options to make your own labels, what to record on them and how to decorate them. We will use hand embroidery, machine embroidery and different piecing ideas to create a label or two.

T Shirt or Memory Quilts

Learn to make a unique and special quilt. We will talk about design options and how to handle different fabrics to start your own memory quilt. T shirts, baby clothes or use shirts to make a wonderful heirloom of memories.

Pumpkin Patch

Come join us making this fun pumpkin. This can be used to make a circular table mat, added to an autumnal quilt or turn into a large floor cushion. A fun pattern utilising strip piecing and appliqué. This pattern is from the wonderful Phillips Fiber Art in America and they have kindly allowed me to teach this in the UK.

Thursday 18th September, £65 for the day, 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Saturday Sit and Sews

These Sit and Sew days allow you time to really get into any project. Bring along your projects that need a little help or perhaps you’d like a little design help. Helen is happy to assist in designing using EQ8 (an electronic quilt design package) which will help you make something truly special. A relaxed, drop-in style class that allows you to book your place when it suits you. But beware – only 5 seats available so don’t wait or you might miss out.

£55 for the day, 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Dates are as follows: 9th Aug, 13th Sep, 4th Oct, 1st Nov and 6th Dec.

Retreats require a deposit and payment on a scheduled basis as per booking form.

Day workshops and sit and sews require full payment to secure your place.

Cancellations

Day workshops and Sit and Sews require 48hrs notice of cancellation for a refund. If cancelled with less than 48hrs, no refund will be given unless we are able to sell your space.

For retreats cancellation policy is on the information/booking sheet.

Should we need to cancel a workshop, a full refund will be given.
