Improvers – Doris Sampler Quilt – Day a Month workshop over 8 months.

Each day we look at a new technique including standard piecing recap, piecing triangles, curved piecing, Y seams, English Paper Piecing, bonded appliqué, Hawaiian appliqué (needle turned), stained glass appliqué, foundation piecing in three ways including a Mariner’s Compass, Clam Shells, Improv and Seminole/Strip piecing.

We aim to look at two blocks a day, these are to be finished at home, although we do spend a full day on the Mariner’s Compass. This course if perfect for those who have pieced before but are looking to extend their skills learning various different techniques, looking at both traditional and modern methods. Both hand and machine options are covered, and used, to make the various different blocks and I always like to include a little of the historical background of P&Q.

Quilt Block Keeper Bag – Two day workshop.

This bag will hold all your quilt blocks for a project safely and, importantly, flat! No more rummaging at the bottom of your workbag to find your crumpled blocks. This one is designed to take blocks up to 18½” which is big enough for most projects. The inside has two fleece lined panels to grasp your blocks, has a bag foam lining to help keep them flat and is fastened by button and loops to add the finishing touch.

The pattern is available to buy using the Contrary Wife quilt block but in the workshop we look at different Scrapology ideas to use on the second side. Learn some new skills and get some new ideas to Love your Scraps.
